The Practice Enquiry Checklist: 10 places practices lose clients before the work begins

Use this checklist to review what prospective clients see before making contact and what happens after an enquiry arrives.

1. Appear for your main service

Search for your main service in your area using a private browser window. Note whether your practice appears and which competitors are presented first.

2. Complete your Google Business Profile

Check the correct category, services, opening hours, phone number, website and photos. Missing details make comparison harder for prospective clients.

3. Keep recent reviews visible

Ask suitable recent clients for an honest review and respond professionally to every review you receive.

4. Create a page for each main service

Give each core service its own useful page, rather than asking one general page to explain everything your practice does.

5. Make contact options clear

Show a clear phone number and enquiry route on every important page, especially on mobile.

6. Set a reply-time standard

Choose a realistic target for acknowledging every new enquiry and make sure the whole team understands it.

7. Test the after-hours experience

Call your own number and submit your own form outside office hours. Check exactly what a prospective client receives and what happens next.

8. Give follow-up a clear owner

Name the person responsible for each enquiry and record when they will make the next contact.

9. Define follow-up after a quote or consultation

Write down the next two or three steps, including when contact should happen and who is responsible.

10. Track sources and conversions

Record how every enquiry found you and whether it became client work. Review the figures monthly to understand what is working.
